Community Links

• Our coaches at Grantham Tennis Club are currently working with:
• Little Gonerby Infants School
• Harrowby Infants School
• Great Ponton Primary School
• The West Grantham Federation of Schools (Ambergate, Earl of Dysart Primary, Spittalgate Primary, St Hugh's Maths and Computing College)
• The Lincolnshire Schools Sports Partnership

Coaches visit schools for 6 weekly sessions (10 for secondary schools), working with groups of children and young people to introduce them to the enjoyment and skills of tennis. The students involved are then invited to take part in the club's junior programme

• Other involvement with local schools includes:
• King's School, Central Technology College and Grantham Preparatory School using the Club facilities on a regular basis
• The Club hosting this summer a primary schools tournament (forerunner of the Tennis Foundation/LTA Schools Tennis Competition Framework)
• The Club providing Work Experience for local yr 10 school students
• Running Tennis Leaders courses for young people 14+

We are very keen to hear from other schools and youth organisations that may be interested in developing a link with Grantham Tennis Club

We are currently establishing links with the Lincolnshire Youth Service with a view to providing positive experience and opportunities for success through tennis for young people - especially those who may have in the past experienced difficulties with life skills and self-confidence

We are currently exploring the potential for other Club to become more involved with tennis coaching and provision for disabled players

Grantham Tennis Club takes every opportunity to publicise via local newspapers and other media the profile of tennis and the achievements of our club players. For example in the autumn of 2008 Dennis Hernaman was short-listed for the Lincolnshire's Sports Personality of the Year award

• An important part of Grantham Tennis Club's role is to contribute to the promotion of a healthy local community
• The Club has over 400 active playing members
• We offer a range of fitness activities including SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) fitness training on Saturday mornings
• We are planning to provide introductory tennis sessions in Wyndham Park
• We have organised combined sports experience with Claypole Youth Football Club
• We are establishing strong links with the SKDC Healthy Communities Officer

• We have now established good links with Sankt Augustin Tennis Club, near Bonn in Germany
• Grantham Tennis Club values its close links with local businesses and appreciate their support. We recognse particularly the valuable support we have received recently from Victor Woods (Grantham), Totemic, the Menz Room
• We are very keen to extend these business links as the Club continues to develop and expand. Please contact
