Competition

Competition is a key part of our club programme. You can play as part of a team or compete as an individual - here at the club or by travelling further afield. Competition is important because it:

  • Helps develop self-reliance and social life skills
  • Improves individual tennis skills and performance
  • Promotes sensitivity to the needs of others and the value of mutual support and communication skills
  • Tests your ability against that of other players
  • Strengthens friendship and social bonding
  • Helps deal positively with winning and losing
  • Leads to a healthy spirit of working together within the club and interaction between people with different needs and backgrounds
  • Helps promote a sense of teamwork and pride in your club and local community
  • Develops a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on good mental and physical health for life

Following the success of last year’s events we are planning the third Grantham Junior Open Tournament which will be held from 9-14 August. Watch out for more details

Grantham Junior Open Tournament
The Grantham Junior Open is now into its 3rd year. Sanctioned by the LTA it attracts players from surrounding counties and even abroad. Its aim is to provide top class competition played at the highest level whilst maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This year’s event will see not only the traditional boys and girls events for ages 8 to 18 but will also include an under 21 category and a mini green doubles event.
Hopefully the tournament will once again provide the stage for sportsmanship, friendship and thrilling tennis...
