To support the launch of the Grantham foodbank, Grantham Tennis Club held a foodbank morning on Friday, 10th June. There was a short presentation by Brian Hanbury and then a sale of cakes, drinks etc. to raise funds for the newly created Grantham Foodbank. People contributed home-made products and any in-date tinned food which they could spare.
13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. Last year the UK foodbank network fed over 60,000 people.
Social Activities
Grantham Tennis Club is not just about tennis! We have a regular programme of social activities and we are always looking to expand the range of events and opportunities - particularly so that more and more family members and friends take part. This is also an important way of attracting new members to the Club, not least people of all ages and backgrounds who may not previously have thought of exploring a possible interest in tennis
